Talk Outline

1) What are active and passive remote sensing?

2) MBL clouds and their interactions with aerosols through ground-based observations and

aircraft in situ measurements over ARM ENA site

3) Investigate MCS properties through an integrative analysis of surface, satellite and aircraft in

situ measurements during MC3E (2011 at US SGP) and IMFRE (2018 Meiyu frontal systems

over central China)

4) Can space- and ground-based radar-lidar combinations observe the same types and amounts of

clouds? Are passively sensed clouds comparable to those actively sensed clouds?
